Who cares that my hard drive had a nervous breakdown this week? Not me.* I can’t be upset when I sit in my studio to work on a shoot like this…

The shoot started with the dad fantastically announcing with his Tim Allen booming radio announcer voice in the quiet forest preserve parking lot, “We’re here! Your family of professional models has arrived!”. I thought to myself, “Woah. This is going to go one of two ways.”

Because the kids are older and cooperative, we finished all the posed shots fairly quickly, which left us in a patch of cornflowers next to the creek with some time to kill. I said that I had gotten all the shots I needed. Everyone let their guard down immediately. And of course, that’s when the magic happens. We lingered in the cornflower patch for another half hour, while this wonderful family just were together. I could not keep up with each little moment happening around me. Laughing, listening, exploring, relaxing.

So in the end, the shoot went the right way. It went the best way.

Thank you.

* (Ok, I admit that I am a bit peeved about the hard drive.)
