The request came through a few weeks ago: Would you do a family portrait to mark a 50th wedding anniversary? There are 8 adults and 8 children, and we want everyone traditionally posed and looking at the camera. My initial response would have been “I’m so sorry, but this type of portraiture is not something that works well with my particular shooting style.” This request, however, was from my other family.
Neighbors since I was five years old, I do sometimes think we are actually related — I even remember attending their 25th wedding anniversary party! I look at each of their faces in the portrait below and see so much friendship and happiness. I see many good memories and the potential for many more. Traditional portraiture does have it’s place, on occasion. 50 years of marriage qualifies as a good occasion.

{ Of course, being like family, they are not exempt from me posting portraits like this, too… }

I wish Ruth and Ron (my other parents) heartfelt congratulations on their 50th!

The last photo…to see so much love after 50 years in their eyes and on their faces…what a treasure!
